When Sean Julius returned to Fort Worth from California, his mother, Trudy, was overjoyed. A volunteer at Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County for 15 years, she lost little time asking her son to join her. She was overjoyed when he said yes.

Last Christmas was a difficult time for Layla. She had recently come to Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County after completing a drug rehabilitation program. But the hardest part was being separated from her young daughter, Zoey, as she fought for custody.
