Room at the Inn

Posted: December 4, 2018

For all the joy on the night our Savior was born, there was precious little comfort for Mary and Joseph, forced to shelter with their newborn Son in a rough, cold stable in a strangle, unwelcoming town.

Sheryl knows a thing or two about how that feels. After nine months in prison and three months in a halfway house, she had nowhere else to go. At Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County, Sheryl found a place where she could rest, recover and restore her relationships with God and with her family.

“I’ve learned a lot about myself here,” Sheryl says. “I learned how to control my anxiety. You work it out, you pray it out, you talk to somebody, and you’ll get through it!”

Your online gift to UGM-TC will make “room at the inn” for more hurting people like Sheryl and help them start the new year with comfort, joy… and hope!

With support from friends like you, Sheryl graduated from our Women’s Program. She’s moving in with her daughter’s family and will celebrate this Christmas – and many more – with plenty of comfort and joy!

“If you’re uncomfortable today, that doesn’t mean you’re going to be uncomfortable tomorrow,” Sheryl says. “Just remember that God has a plan, and be grateful!”
